Thanksgiving has passed, and I hope you all had a great holiday! Now, it's on to the winter holidays! Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, the winter solstice, or Kwanzaa or something else, it's a fun time of year.

Our host, Liz of That Skinny Chick Can Bake!, has chosen an elegant cocktail party as our Progressive Eats theme this month. I love cocktail parties, especially around Christmas time.

This candy cane martini is a fun, festive way to celebrate the holidays. First, the glass is rimmed with crushed candy canes, adhered with light corn syrup. Next, it's flavored with peppermint schnapps.

As for the other ingredients, I had whipped cream vodka on-hand. Use vanilla or even regular, if that's what you have. I had a bit of a tough time finding white chocolate liqueur in my area (don't get me started on Pennsylvania's draconian grip on alcohol sales), and if you can't find it either, use regular chocolate liqueur, and make it a chocolate candy cane martini!

If you're serving a large crowd, you can mix together the vodka, liqueur and schnapps ahead of time, and store in a pitcher. Measure out 3 fluid ounces of the mixture and swirl with 2 fluid ounces of half-and-half per cocktail.

What's your favorite drink to serve at a holiday cocktail party?

These look amazing! Where did you end up finding white chocolate liqueur? I live in PA too (a little north of Philly) and have such a hard time finding a lot of the fun flavored liquors I see people use online. ?

I found it in the liquor store inside the Acme in Horsham -- it was at the register in little mini bottles. If you go to the Fine Wine and Good Spirits website, you can bring up white chocolate liqueur and locate a store that carries it: http://bit.ly/2OfjUWh

Whipped cream vodka? Wow! I have a lot of cocktail education to catch up on. While the vodka sounds fascinating, my favorite part of this drink is actually the candy cane rim:)
