This chocolate martini is a long-time favorite of mine. I make them for parties, girls' night in, or pretty much any day that ends in "-y." It's so easy, and I almost always have the ingredients on-hand.

The recipe as-written makes a pretty strong martini, which is just how I like them. You can make them weaker by using just 2 ounces each of chocolate liqueur and creme de cacao.

The garnished rim is what puts it over the top, though. I make a ring of chocolate syrup on a small plate, then dip the chilled glass in it, then gently dip the glass into grated chocolate. Use the best quality chocolate you can get, such as Scharffen Berger or Valrhona. They type is up to you, whether it's semisweet or bittersweet chocolate.

You can mix the spirits ahead of time and keep it chilled. When you're ready to serve, pour the alcohol into the shaker, add the half-and-half, shake and enjoy!
